Basesystem.dmg Does Not Exist

Dec 22, 2013 For some reason, Apple decided that the InstallESD.dmg that comes with the Mavericks Install as downloaded from the App Store shouldnt be a bootable DVD image anymore. In earlier times, all you needed to do was to convert that InstallESD.dmg into.

Ahhh got it.so the path is actually: /Volumes/Mac OS X Install Data/BaseSystem.dmg I ditto'd it to my Desktop and then I had to unhide it: sudo ditto /Volumes/Mac OS X Install Data/BaseSystem.dmg /Desktop/BaseSystem.dmg sudo chflags nohidden /Desktop/BaseSystem.dmg Thanks for the tips.I was looking in the wrong place.
Jan 29, 2017 14. Open Terminal and type the following command: open /Volumes/OS X Install ESD/BaseSystem.dmg. Now, open disk utility and restore your USB drive, NOT the drive, but the volume contained on the drive with the mounted 'BaseSystem' NOT the.dmg.

has anyone experienced issues install MacOS Sierra via upgrade or clean install in which it seems to be hung and the timing remainig counter displays negative numbers? e.g. -21 remainig, -401 remaining

Hope a more experienced eye with installation errors might have an idea what is going or are the errors exepcted. It seems to hang on install and does not provided further progress update after the last line in the file. Didn't copy the whole log file. Only after it complete the download of the installer via recovery. I did let it run for about an hour and half after the last line June 15 08:12:24 and nothing occured, nor was any additional information added to the log file.'
